Spring/Summer 2014

We certainly keep ourselves busy and this term was no exception. We challenged ourselves to do our very own spring concert and so we had to learn enough new material to do this, in a relatively short period of time; Lots of practising at home. We added some great new songs including the mammoth Les Miserables medley and as our ladies are growing in confidence we also got plenty of volunteers for solo or small group pieces. “Spring into Song” was an enormous success and we were very proud of ourselves.

Not wanting to rest on our laurels we then learnt our first operatic piece and learnt it in Italian too! We performed at the 2nd Shepshed Show in amazing weather, who would have expected good weather? On top of all the singing, this term was filled with fundraising events too, so many in fact, we completely smashed this year’s fundraising target. We presented two cheques at our AGM one for  Derbys., Leics. & Rutland Air Ambulance and another for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research. An amazing term, filled with some firsts for Serenade, which proves we are still trying to grow and improve.
