Spring/Summer 2018

Well we’ve packed in an awful lot in this term, I know I seem to say that a lot, but it definitely is true this term. We kicked off with a social evening, which are always good fun and it’s nice to mix with some of the choir members you don’t usually get to speak to. Nicole our Musical Director talked us through the choice of sings for our Summer Concert and then we were treated to a 1930’s/40’s dance night from a couple of guest dancers. The dancers demonstrated how to really do it with some...

Autumn/Winter 2017

We started off this term with our AGM and the following week we invited our charities of the year to receive their fundraising cheques. After all our hard work of the previous twelve months it was great to invite STEPS and the Shepshed Toy Library to receive cheques for £1500 each. This was a remarkable achievement in itself, but we also has some surplus money in the kitty, and being the generous lot we are, we decided to share this out with all of our previous charities. Peter le...

Spring/Summer 2017

We were without our wonderful accompanist Ness for a few weeks in the Spring term, and with the Easter holidays and bank holidays, the pressure was on to get us into shape for our Summer Concert. Our Musical Director Nicole wasn’t daunted though; she set us an ambitious concert programme to learn, pushing us to learn all new songs (something we had never done before on this scale), some without music and learning the actions too!! But, thankfully, Peter and David stepped in to help to make...

Autumn/Winter 2016

It’s been a busy half year, with our ‘Bring the lads night’, when we persuaded the men in our lives to join us singing for the evening. We really enjoy our nursing home tours and so were thrilled to be able to revisit the lovely ladies and gents in Shepshed, it really sets us in the Christmas mood. We’ve sung carols at the Carillon Shopping Centre and we also had a very successful night singing at The Horse, by a roaring fire, very Christmassy. However the season culminated...

Spring/Summer 2016

We welcomed back our lovely friend Nicole Jordan to the Musical Director position after Tom Stanyard had given us a great couple of years of technical excellence and led us to new heights. We were excited to get started on this years ambitious Summer Concert and really enjoy it. We chose the theme of “Singing Through the Decades” and had pieces from the 1910’s all the way through to the 2010’s. With more and more of us gaining confidence is solo or small groups we could...

Autumn/Winter 2015

For this year’s Christmas Concert we wanted to do something a little different and we were pretty bored of the usual Christmas songs and carols, so we decided to perform Christmas Number Ones from the last 60 years. There was a little bit of everything and so hopefully something for everyone from When a Child is Born to Bohemian Rhapsody. We voted for The Shepshed Volunteer Service to be our charity of the year, so hopefully we can do them proud this year with all our hard work and...
